After a century of Indigenous advocacy, the Vatican has finally rejected the Doctrine of Discovery.

Thanks to the hard work of Indigenous peoples globally.

And to Chief Destahe of the Cayuga nation of Iroquois Confederacy who came one hundred years ago to Geneva Switzerland in 1923.

With the support of his peoples Destahe came to find an audience within the “League of Nations” (now called the United Nations) with his Wampum in hand. He spoke of respect, and for the environment, protect sacred sites, and to honor the treaties and agreements made.

Chief Destahe helped set the international arena in motion for all Indigenous peoples have achieved today!
