Bay Native Circle program aired (1/28/15), hosted this week by Vince Medina (California-Ohlone)

In the excellent and in-sightful interview describing his book, author Elias Castillo, "A Cross of Thorns: The Enslavement of California Indians by the Spanish Missions" (at SF Commonwealth Club 2/9/15) effectively describes the attitude, demeanor and brutal daily practice by the missionary under the banner of Spain and the Catholic Church. With the Catholic Church and the Pope about to give sainthood to the General of the Franciscan order, the marines of the Mendicant order, the first ones in, will be another travesty and attempt to wipe away the ethnic cleansing of a peoples who's lives have been left in shambles.
